Melaye, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 85,395 votes, against his closest opponent, Smart Adeyemi, who secured 66,901 votes.
He immensely Thanked God for his reelection into Nigeria Senate in his tweeter handle. He said:
"To God alone be the glory forever and ever. Amen. I have just been declared winner of the Kogi West Senatorial District Election. God only You would have done this.""
He also thanked the people of a kogi West for their supports and expressed his love for them. Thus he said,
"Kogi West I thank you all. I love you all. What a mighty God we serve."
It is confirmed for Senator Dino Malaye has secured for himself an opportunity to serve in Nigeria Senate in the 10th Parliament of Nigeria Senate
