According to report, the lady was gang raped by the 4 men at a building along Michael Ogun Street in Surulere, Lagos, where they accosted her while she was going home at about 4.30pm.
She was accosted and forced into the uncompleted building by the robbers who took turn to rape her while pointing gun at her, after which they robbed her of her gold earrings and mobile phone and sent her away.
It was gathered that the matter was later reported to the police in the area, they immediately took action by trailing and arresting one of the suspects identified as Emmanuel Okafor, who was reportedly transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for further investigation.
It was reported that during investigation, the police found Okafor culpable and immediately charged him before an Ogba Magistrates court for rape at gun point, while the other accomplices were said to be at large and the gun they used in robbing the lady was yet to be recovered.
Okafor was reportedly charged before the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. O.A. Ogundare, who ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody, while directing the prosecutor, Inspector E. Edet, to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice.
According to report, Okafor risks a long prison sentence if the DPP finds him culpable and he is found guilty of the offence. It was also learnt that the matter may likely be transferred to the High Court because of the seriousness of the offence he allegedly committed.
