NATIPP Parades Sex Offenders…

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NATIPP) on Thursday paraded a 43- year –old Pastor, Philip ‘Prince’ Olatunbosun for sexually harassing his 17-year-old house help.

The suspect, who hails from Ondo State, was paraded along four other suspects for human trafficking and rape offences.

The pastor, according to the agency, would sneak into the victim’s room and use his hands to fondle her breasts and other sexual genitals.

NAPTIP’s Director-General, Julie Okah-Donli, who disclosed these at a briefing on Thursday in Abuja, said the move to parade the suspects, is in line with its ‘name and shame’ strategy of ending the twin problems.

Represented by the Director of Investigation and Monitoring at the agency, Mr Josiah Emerole, she said NAPTIP would continue to go after traffickers until it makes the “country a safe place for the people.”

She said: “Three of the cases have to do with rape and sexual violations against minors which are serious offences punishable under the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act (VAPPA) 2015.

“The other two are attempts by two suspects to traffic or smuggle other Nigerians out of the country using fraudulent means contrary to the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.”

The NAPTIP boss appealed to parents especially the mothers to pay closer attention to their daughters because of the increasingly cases and spate of rape in the country.

“To those out there who now take delight in destroying the lives of the girl child because of their uncontrollable sexual appetite, NAPTIP will no longer allow this to thrive.

“For the traffickers, NAPTIP will continue to go after them until we make the country a safe place for the people,” she said.

A 27-year-old taxi driver, James Eberechukwu Osuji, who hails from Imo State and resides in Abuja, was paraded for luring a 17-year-old female to his house and camped her there from Thursday, August 2, till Saturday, August 4, 2018.

He was alleged to have drugged the victim and sexually violated her within those days.

Also paraded for rape and sexual offences was a 31-year-old Chef, Innocent Etim who hails from Akwa Ibom and resides in Abuja.

He was arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl whose mother provides cooking assistance whenever he has a catering contract.

Huawei embraces slider phones with Honor Magic 2

TwitterFacebook

Huawei's other brand, Honor, has jumped on the sliding smartphone bandwagon.

At its event ahead of the IFA show in Berlin, the company launched (teased, really) a phone called Honor Magic 2, which achieves a near-bezel-less screen by hiding the selfie camera with a sliding mechanism.

We've already seen something similar in Oppo's Find X, but the Magic 2 is different as the phone is opened manually. Yes, we've now essentially gone full circle and arrived back at a time when sliding phones, such as Nokia's 8110, were the norm. What's next, phones with physical keyboardsRead more...

Designed in collaboration with designer Michael Anastassiades and inspired by a coin standing on its side, the Edge looks like a polished aluminum wheel with a matte black fabric cover hiding its guts. You can place it on the floor or hang it onto a special wall mount.  Read more...

7 of the best free antivirus software options

TwitterFacebook

For any PC user, it's important to have effective antivirus software installed. Besides protecting you against nefarious viruses and trojans, antivirus software also blocks spyware and can offer adequate protection against malware and adware.

In the past, antivirus software has been known for slowing down PCs due to its need to scan extensively on a regular basis. These days though, most software hardly makes a dent on your PC's performance, while still providing protection.

Which antivirus software should you get though? You might think that you need to spend considerable money in order to get a great antivirus software package, but that's not always the case. Plenty of free solutions now exist and are worth your time. They're often made by the same manufacturers of paid solutions, such as Panda and Adaware. Various reports have demonstrated that detection rates and accuracy are nearly as high with free software as they are with paid. You're not getting less of a valuable service here. At least, not in terms of spotting viruses, although paid software is sometimes a little smarter at spotting the loopholes.  Read more...

Suspected Fraudster Abducts Facebook Female Friend

A 26-year-old suspected Internet fraudster, Jide Ajayi, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly abducting a 14-year-old pupil, identified only as Miracle.

Punch Metro learnt that the suspect met the victim on a social media platform, Facebook, from where they exchanged telephone numbers.

The suspect was alleged to have gone to Miracle’s parent’s house on Thursday, August 23, from where he took away the Senior Secondary School one pupil.

After five days together, operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team were reported to have swooped on him at his hideout on Gbeleyi Street, Idimu.

The victim told a Punch correspondent that she could not explain how she got to the area, alleging that Ajayi cast a spell on her.

She also claimed that throughout the five days that she was with him, he did not sexually molest her.

She said, “We became friends on Facebook last year. He was always disturbing me. At a point, I decided to block him because he asked me out. However, on July 17, 2018, after a party in my school, he started chatting with me again. During one of our chats, he asked if I was a virgin and I answered yes.

“I don’t know how he got to my street that night. He called and said he was on our street. I told him that I just returned from a journey and I could not go outside. He said there was no problem and he would leave.

“I went to buy something outside when I saw him. He initially pleaded with me to follow him, but I refused. He then touched me on the shoulders. I lost my senses and obeyed him.

“He took me to his friend’s place in the Pipeline area of Idimu. He held a meeting with the friend called Michael. There was a second friend, Gbenga, with them that night. He told them that I would pass the night with them.

“The room was dark. I was there for about five days. During the period, he locked me in and only brought food to me. I told him that I wanted to go home, but he said I could not find my way home without him.”

The teenager said by Sunday, Michael asked Ajayi to take her away from the house because his girlfriend would be visiting.

The 26-year-old was alleged to have insisted on her staying, as he reportedly made plans to relocate her to another friend’s house.

“When his friend was going to work on Monday, he told us that we had till 3pm to leave his apartment. That was when he (Ajayi) said he was taking me to another friend’s place, but I refused.  Some minutes later, the police came and rescued me,” she added.

Miracle said the suspect did not sleep with her, adding that they were not in a relationship before they met.

Asked the kind of work Ajayi did for a living, Miracle said she believed that he was into Internet scam.

“From Thursday night to Monday afternoon that I was there, he did not touch me and none of his friends did.

“He told me that he works with a company at Apapa. But I believe he is into yahoo yahoo (Internet scam). He never allowed me to touch his phone. But there was a night he was asleep and he forgot to lock the phone. I picked it and open his Hangout application. I saw him chatting with a man and claiming to be a girl.

“From this incident, I have learnt not to go out at night again. I have also stopped using a phone and removed myself from the social media,” she added.

Punch Metro learnt that Miracle’s father died when she was barely four years old and her mother, Foluke, had had to cater to her and her two siblings alone.

Foluke told Punch correspondent that she reported the case at the Idimu Police Station and the IRT’s office at Ikeja.

The mother of three said she believed Ajayi planned to do something evil with her daughter.

She said, “On that Thursday night, I was with my daughter in the house when her younger sister came to say she went to buy chin-chin outside and did not return. More than 24 hours after searching for her, we reported at Idimu and IRT’s office.

“The police said they tracked how he started calling the girl that morning. She switched off her phone and when she turned it on at night, he was the first person to call her and that was how he abducted her.

“I believe he had a mission. His family members have been begging for forgiveness, but I have referred them to the police. It is not possible for him to have kept the girl for five days without touching her, but that was what happened. So, he had a plan. Whenever he wanted to urinate, he locked her up in the room. I want the police to get to the root of the matter. From what I learnt, his calls after he took the girl had been to Kaduna and Kano states. I want to know his mission.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said investigation was ongoing.

He said, “The girl was declared missing and the case was investigated by the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, which rescued her. The suspect is still under investigation to unravel the motive for the abduction. The boy has denied sleeping with the girl; we are looking at a suspected case of trafficking. Investigation is ongoing.”

Photo: Nigerian Man Arrested For ‘Rupturing’ Young Man's An*s During Gay S*x

Two Nigerian men identified as Okon Bassey and Ademola Adekunle, have been reportedly arrested by the Ogun State Police command for their involvement in wild gay s*x.

According to report, the two men were arrested following a complaint by Bassey who reported at the Onipanu Divisional Headquarter that Ademola was threatening his life with violence but there was a twist to his story when allegation of homosexual practices between the two of them was unrivaled by the police during their investigation.

While speaking on the case Police Public Relations Officer and  Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that when detectives detailed by the Divisional Police Officer, Onipanu, Sangobiyi Johnson, arrested Ademola last Wednesday, he confessed to being introduced to Bassey by one Mandela for homosexual dating.

The PPRO further disclosed that Ademola who had explained how Bassey promised him N20,000 if he agreed to be his s*x partner disclosed that the said Bassey has had s*x with him three times and which had left him bleeding profusely from the anus since, while the agreed N20,000 was not even paid him.

“Upon the confession, the two of them were promptly arrested and detained. Ademola was taken to hospital and medical report confirmed that his anus has been violently tampered with.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has given directives for the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution,” Oyeyemi added,

According to report, the pastor who hails from Ondo State, usually sneak into the victim’s room to rub his hands on the victim's breasts and private part.

Businessmen Cry Out Over Detention, Torture By F-SARS

Some businessmen in the Ikeja area of Lagos State have alleged that operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad allegedly tortured and extorted money from them for what they knew nothing about.

The three men claimed that they were illegally detained for days during which they were brutalised. One of them said he was almost killed.

The businessmen, who had separate encounters with F-SARS operatives from the Lagos and Ogun commands, The Punch gathered, were going about their business when they were accosted by the policemen.

The operatives allegedly took suspected criminals to their offices, who accused them of buying stolen phones from him.

One of the victims, Chris Amaru, who claimed that he was arrested by F-SARS operatives from the Lagos State Police Command, alleged that he was almost killed.

He said, “I was at my office when the F-SARS came and dragged me into their jeep. One of them asked a tattered looking person who was handcuffed if I was the guy that he sold iPhone and Infinix phones to and he said yes. I was shocked.

“I told them that I did not know the man from anywhere, but the officers drove off to the police command. One of them said I would confess after they took me into the ‘theatre.’

“Inside the theatre, which is a room, they slapped me many times and asked me to lie down. They beat me up with a rubber pipe. They asked if I knew the tattered guy and I kept saying no. One Inspector Oro really dealt with me, but it was Inspector Akuku that ordered the officers to tie and hang me. They put a steel pipe between my tied hands and legs and they hanged me.

“Later, the officers loaded a cylinder filled with gas on my back. My hands and legs were filled with pains. They put four brake discs around my neck. At this point, the pain became unbearable. I didn’t know when I owned to a crime I never committed.”

The Anambra State indigene said immediately he admitted to the crime, the officers allegedly recorded him and asked him to confess to the crime in the presence of the then Officer-in-Charge of SARS, CSP Sanusi Mohammed.

“After what they did to me, I had to admit the crime in the presence of their OC and he said they should release me once I get the phones back. I called and gave the specifications of the phones to my colleague so that he can get them to secure my release that Friday. Despite bringing the phones, they locked me up. I was in the cell from Friday till Monday,” he added.

The 31-year-old, who said he survived only on water, added that suspects in the cell confirmed to him that his arrest was a set-up.

“I was released on Monday after paying N100,000 for bail. Two weeks after the incident, I went back to see the OC of SARS to clear my name, and with his help, I was able to recover the phones my colleague gave the officers. But I have yet to get my money back. I recognise all the officers if I see them,” he said.

The Punch also learnt that F-SARS operatives from the Ogun State Police Command allegedly arrested another set of businessmen in a similar fashion in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.

A victim, Christain Okorie, said he stood at night for four days inside the F-SARS cell at Magbon Police Station, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The 20-year-old said, “I was inside my shop when two armed SARS men entered and ordered everyone to stand. The officers, while pointing at me, asked one handcuffed guy if I was the one, and he said yes. They handcuffed me and took me to FSARS in Abeokuta.

“I did not know the guy, but he said he sold phones to me. They locked me up for four days for what I did not do; it was on the fifth day that they allowed my boss to bail me.”

Okorie’s boss, Chimwanya Offia, 32, said, he was at the station to secure the bail of his nephew when the operatives allegedly arrested him.

Offia, who said he was a dealer in phone accessories, said his shop was not the only one raided by the officers.

The Ebonyi State indigene said, “I was told that the operatives came from Abeokuta. So, because I had nothing to fear, I went to the station to know why they arrested him.

“When I got there and I introduced myself as Okorie’s boss, they detained me immediately. I could not stay there because of health challenges and they told me to bail myself with N200,000. I later paid N30,000, and they told me to come the following day for my nephew.

“Okorie spent about four days inside the cell before they accepted the amount I offered for his bail. They demanded N1m; but I eventually bailed him with N100,000,” he added.

Another victim, Okolo Daniel, 38, who was a laptop repairer, said it took the intervention of his brother who was a policeman before he was released.

“Everyone knows I don’t do buying and selling; I only repair laptops. When the officers realised that I was a laptop repairer, they made the criminal to say he sold a laptop to me. It took the intervention of my brother, who is a policeman, before I was released after paying N40,000, for what I did not do,” he said.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, asked the businessman to petition the police authorities for proper investigation.

He said, “What the man has said is an allegation. It will be most appropriate if he can make his complaint in writing and forward same to the police authorities so that investigation can be conducted for the truth behind it to be unravelled.”

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the men detained by FSARS in Ogun were released on bail after they pleaded that they were innocent buyers of the stolen products.

He said, “The complainants are being economical with the truth. There was a robbery in the Agbado area of Ogun State. The community members apprehended one of the robbers and they handed him over to the police. Investigation led to the arrest of other members of the syndicates. It was the arrested robbers that said some of the items they stole were sold to the complainants.

“The robber took the police to their places to arrest them. But because of the intervention of some people and the fact that they pleaded that they were innocent buyers, they were released on bail.”

PHOTOS: Nigerian Ladies Arrested In Ghana As Pros-titutes

Not less than 41 Nigerian prostitutes were arrested in Weiba, Ghana around a place called Choice where several pubs operate at night.

The arrest of the ladies who're into pros-titution followed a tip-off from some residents in the area who had commented over the "nuisance activities" of Nigerian ladies in the area.

Their activities allegedly turned the vicinity into a haven for drug peddlers and armed robbers.

Due to these complaints received, the police laid surveillance and subsequently arrested 41 of the ladies, most of whom Chief Inspector Eninful said were Nigerians between 18 and 25 years.
