Woman Kills Party Guests With Poisoned Food For Ridiculing Her Cooking

An India woman named Pradnya Survase, of Khalapur has been accused of killing five guests at an housewarming party by poisoning them because they kept ridiculing her cooking.

According to report, the woman now faces a death penalty after the five guests died at the feast in Mahad, in Raigad district, on June 18.

The Police disclosed that Survase who intended to kill her husband, her mother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, along with her mother-in-law’s sister and her husband after they "regularly insulted" her complexion and cooking, allegedly mixed snake poison into a container of dal that was then served to guests

About 120 people were said to be invited to the housewarming where a village cook prepared food that was served from 2.30pm until 11.30pm, but those who ate later in the day began complaining of nausea, vomiting, and stomach ache just a few hours later and as a result, 88 people were hospitalized while five died, among which were four children, aged between seven and 13, and 53-year-old Gopinath Nakure.

"Pradnya claims that since her marriage two years ago, she has been insulted regularly for her dark complexion and accused of not being able to cook well." Vishwajeet Kaingade, senior police inspector of Khalapur police station, told the Hindustan Times.

"We learnt that those who had eaten between 4:30pm and 6pm were suffering from nausea and other issues. We then found out who had served the food then." Kaingade added.

It was also gathered that after the police questioned those that served the food, Survase confessed to the crime after being interrogated. According to Survase, who is divorced from her first husband, believes the relatives had damaged her second marriage, hence her evial act to get revenge.

She has now been charged with murder, attempted murder and conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code and the maximum punishment she faces is the death penalty.
