Nigerian Lady Gang Raped In Libya Shares Her Story

A Nigerian who just returned from Libya, has narrated how she was gang raped and became pregnant. Simply known only as Titi, she shares her story thus…

'I finished my National Diploma but there was no work. Then, i learnt photography but still there was no money to buy a camera. I did different odd jobs like BRT, sales girl, ticketing and more.

I eventually left Nigeria in April 2018. I was told by a certain woman that there was work in South
Africa and that she would settle my travel experiences. I was expected to work for one year and 6 months. I wanted to help my parents so i decided to take the offer. I was so desperate for a better life,

I left my 4 years old daughter at home to go look for a better life abroad.

However, instead of taking me to South Africa like she promised, my madame took me to Kano, then Aghadez and Saba in Libya. At Saba, we were sold to Arabs, who in turn sold us to a brothel.

One night, in the room where 8 of us slept, Asthma boys broke into our room and gang raped us. This incident is one of the most traumatising in my life. This happened at the end of April. I havent seen my period since then.

I have been in and out of about 4 prisons in Libya. Eventually my boga (smuggler) had to send N700,000 naira for my release.

I didn't know it was Libya. I have been seeing girls talk about their experience in Libya. I didnt know i would end up like them. If i had known, i would never have embarked on the journey.'

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared a seven-day mourning for the victims of the gruesome killings of innocent Nigerians in Plateau state and other parts of the country.

Consequently, the opposition party directs that its flags at all its offices and formation at all levels across the country be flown at half-mast during the period in honour of the victims.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, PDP urges the people of Plateau state to exercise their rights as global citizens, work with other public-spirited Nigerians and groups and take President Muhammadu Buhari and his government to the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Hague for acting helpless in the face of continuous mass killings.

"The PDP firmly holds that the life of every Nigerian is sacred. All Nigerians must be protected whether they are Birom, Basange, Igbira, Tiv, Idoma, Hausa, Igbo, Fulani, Gbagyi, Yoruba or from any other tribe whatsoever.

'The fundamental duty of government all over the world is the protection of lives and Nigerians can no longer continue to fold their hands while compatriots are being daily hacked down by marauders.," the PDP said.

Proud Dad Watches All His Quintuplets Graduate From University Same Day

A proud father watched as his quintuplets all graduated from the same college on the same weekend, with degrees in five different subjects.

Their story is an interesting one...

Enna, Maria, Emilio, George and John Diaz donned their caps and gowns to accept their certificates after four years of study at the University of North Texas.

The 21-year-olds who graduated with degrees in biology, finance, Spanish, social communication and art, also attended the same elementary, middle and high school, and even went to prom together.

Their proud parents Jorge, a salesman, and Enna Diaz, both 55, of Keller, Texas, watched as the siblings graduated last month.

The quintuplets, who were born within three minutes of each other in July 1996, lived in the same college houses and revised together in the library ahead of their final exams.

They all also worked part-time in restaurants, took out student loans and used the university's financial aid program to put themselves through university.

But although the quintuplets shared many core classes, their majors could not be further more different.

'Ever since they were born people were asking me how I would ever put five of them through college,' Jorge, who is originally from Mexico, said.

'It has been my dream to see them through college. Watching them graduate was the best feeling any parent can have but multiply that by five. We did it.'

George, a Spanish and logistics major, said he will never be as happy as his father was watching his quintuplets accept their degrees.

He said: 'I don't think I'll ever be half as happy as my dad was when we graduated. It was always his main goal to get us all through college and he was like 'Holy Moly, I did it.'

'It was great to start something like college with my siblings and finish it together.'

The siblings lived in adjoining dorms for freshman and sophomore years, before moving into an apartment together.

The three men were said to have been captured at Gashish District in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were paraded in Jos, alongside 14 others who were arrested over the killings in which people described as herdsmen were believed to have massacred over 200 people, mainly locals and farmers, between Saturday night of June 23 and Sunday dawn of June 24.

NAN reports that 11 villages in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area and its environs were affected in the onslaught in which property worth billions of naira were also destroyed.

Parading the suspects, the spokesman of the STF, Major Umar Adams, told reporters that the suspects were arrested while they had in their possession sophisticated rifles.

Adams said the suspects were arrested in the course of the attacks.

“As our men were repelling the attacks in those areas, we arrested these suspects with four rifles, three locally made guns and one AK-47.

Oshiomhole Shows True Colour, Tells APC Leaders, Members, I'm For Everybody, Not Anybody

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Comrade Adams Oshiomhole yesterday told party faithful and leaders that he did not belong to any faction or bloc within the ruling party.

His emergence as national chairman, he said, was a product of the collective unity of the party members.

Oshiomhole, who spoke when he received two different delegations of party members from Taraba State, said members of the party must work for its unity.

He added that unity can only be achieved in an atmosphere of justice and fairness.

The party’s national chairman assured those with grievances in the various states that his leadership would soon move into action to address such challenges.

Oshiomhole noted that he was presently studying his handover notes to know where there are challenges to address them.

He said party members and leaders at the various levels must be prepared to make sacrifice and unite for APC’s common good.

According to him, there was no way the party could make inroad with a divided House.

He told the delegations that he was still studying the handover notes given to him by the former chairman as well as awaiting the report of the convention committee on what they did to ensure peace during the exercise.

Oshiomhole said the fact that even those who had grievances behaved maturely and waiting for his emergence as chairman to address such grievances meant that he has a duty not to disappoint them, but ensure that justice and fairness prevail.

He said: “Luckily, I am not a product of a faction; I am not a product of a bloc. I am a product of unanimity within the rank and file and leaders of our party. Therefore, I have a duty to translate into action what they expect of me, which is that the unity that prevailed in my election should be transplanted to all the states so that we have unity in all the states. That, I will work for without fear or favour.

“My plea is that let us be guided by this pillar of justice and fairness. We must also recognise that in a free society and in the real world, nobody get what he wants, but what you are able to negotiate.

“That is why the tool in this business is the tool of persuasion, mediation and negotiation. Those we will bring to bear to assist us and every group that has challenges to help them fight on a common ground because our party will move in as one united and indivisible party.”

He added: “The convention committee chairman has informed me that he is working on his report which will contain a number of states where we have challenges, what he had to do before the convention, those he assured that their matter will be looked into after the convention.

“I appreciate that even those who had grievances had confidence that with me coming in, we will be able to resolve their grievances and People generally behaved even though they have their reservations.

“I am very grateful for the patience that people have shown and the maturity that has been demonstrated. When I have the report, the secretariat will inform you when your attention is required so that we find a win-win solution.”

He said the party leaders must work for the unity of the party and the country, saying “the unity of the party must flow from the unity from the ward, state and National levels”.

Oshiomhole added: “I listened to you referring to two parallel congresses at various levels in Taraba state and that is rather unfortunate. We must do everything possible to ensure that we maintain the unity of the party in every state, including Taraba State.

“I am happy by the comment made by one of you that you are all committed to ensuring that the tenure of the current governor will be brought to a close on May 29 next year by ensuring that we vote him out in February. I am committed to that project.”

The two delegations were led by the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Aisha Alhassan, who said led what she called the mainstream APC in Taraba State and Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf, who led what they described as the Taraba APC Unity Group.

"I Don’t Know Why I Didn’t Award That Penalty To Super Eagles" – Referee

According to Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, when he asked the Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakin why he did not award the penalty for the handball of Argentine defender, Marcus Rojo, the referee replied saying he didn't know.

Mikel said the referee admitted that the ball touched the hand of Marcos Rojo in the 82nd minute of Tuesday’s game but he put up a defense in not awarding the crucial spot-kick.

The penalty, if awarded and scored at a time the match was 1-1, could have wrapped up a second round ticket for the Eagles.

Speaking at the post-match briefing in St Petersburg, Mikel said:

“I asked the referee if he thought the ball struck Rojo’s hand and he said ‘yes'. The referee told me that the ball came off Rojo’s head before it hit his hand.”

Mikel added:

"I then asked Cakur why he didn’t award the penalty to Nigeria, he said: ‘I don’t know.’ That was sad because we checked the match video in the dressing room and it was a clear penalty kick..."
