Freed Lagos Pupils Begin Trauma Therapy In LASUTH

Therapeutic treatment for the freed six pupils of the Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe, have commenced to relieve them of the trauma of their captivity.

The children were debriefed for about four hours on Monday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

Their parents were not allowed access to the session reportedly organised by a team of psychologists and other medical experts.

The children – Isiaq Ramon, Peter Jonah, Adebayo George, Judah Agbausi, Pelumi Philips and Farouq Yusuf – were dropped at a creek in Ondo State around 12pm on Friday after kidnappers collected fresh N5m.

They were reunited with their parents in Lagos later in the day and taken to LASUTH, where their blood samples were collected for medical examinations.

One of the freed pupils, in an interview with Punch correspondent on Saturday, had described his stay in the kidnappers’ hideouts as a bad experience, saying they bathed once in a week, slept in the rain and went hungry all day on a few occasions.

On Monday, the children returned to LASUTH for another round of medical examinations to ascertain their health condition.

Punch Metro learnt that a history of their experience in the kidnappers’ den was also taken by the medical experts, who took them though a trauma therapy, which lasted for over four hours.

Parents contacted by Punch correspondent after the exercise said they had been strictly warned not to allow the children speak to the press.

A mother, who begged not to ne named, said, “They underwent examinations to make sure that nothing happens to them now and in the future. The hospital is helping them. They spent over four hours with doctors.

“They said they would still call us, but they didn’t give us any specific date. The results of the tests are not out. We were advised not to allow them speak with anybody on the incident, especially journalists. If you want more information, go to the appropriate authorities.”

Another parent said the exercise focused on assisting the pupils to get over the shock and relate well with their environment after 64 days in captivity.

He said, “The hospital debriefed them. They tried to liberate them from the trauma and make them be themselves again. They want to bring them close to the environment. There is no strange behaviour noticed for now.”

Calls put across to the line of the LASUTH Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adewale Oke, rang out. He had also yet to reply to enquiries on the debriefing and medical tests conducted on the pupils as of press time.

Love & Hip Hop Star Skipping Car Payments On A Maserati

"Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta" star Karen King walked into court to deal with 1 case this week, but never left 'cause she was arrested for an entirely different one on the spot.

Law enforcement sources say Karen was taken into custody yesterday in Atlanta on a warrant for her arrest, for allegedly skipping car payments on a Maserati.

She was there to deal with her pending identity fraud case, but we're told she was taken away by deputies when the court clerk announced the car payment warrant.

Karen stands accused of skipping months of payments on the Maserati she bought in 2014, which led to a judge signing off on the warrant back in October. She'd been MIA ever since.

Kim Kardashian In $100M Lawsuit

Kim Kardashian's use and promotion of an illuminated smartphone case is totally ripping off the guy who invented it, and he says he has receipts to prove it, according to a $100 million lawsuit.

Kim's company - Kimsaprincess, Inc. got slapped with the suit Monday by a guy named Hooshmand Harooni says he got a patent back in 2013 for an "integrated lighting accessory and case for a mobile phone device." If that sounds familiar, that's because it's a perfect description of the LuMee.

No doubt you've seen Kim flaunt the LuMee on her social media. She says it helps her take perfectly lit selfies - obviously, a major asset in her world. She even used it for her famous selfies with Hillary Clinton.

Problem is, Harooni licensed his invention to a company called Snaplight, which is now getting buried in sales. Snaplight and Harooni say LuMee jacked their patented technology, and made it an unfair fight by teaming up with a supreme trendsetter like Kim.

In the documents, Snaplight says Kim is getting a cut of LuMee's sizable profits and now it wants a chunk of that cheddar too. The company says $100 million will cover its lost profits.

Meanwhile, her husband, Mr. Ademola Danaogun, has appealed to Port Harcourt residents to help bring back his wife wherever they see her. He said they told him they saw the wife half-naked, urging people to help rescue her four children from an inferno. He passionately appealed to the public not to attack his wife or mistake her for a witch, stressing that she had not recovered from the shock of the sad and painful loss His words:

“We have been looking for her since. Some said they saw her at Ogbogoro; we have gone there to look for her, but didn’t find her. “Yesterday evening, some people said they saw my wife at GRA. They said she was shouting that her four children were burning in fire. “Please, if you see my wife, don’t kill her. People may conclude that she is a witch and had killed the children. “No, it is not like that. I want to see her and take her home. We are going back to our state because we have lost everything.”

Businessmen who mixed horse meat with beef jailed for 10 years

Greedy fraudsters who tried to pass off 30 tonnes of cheap horsemeat as beef have been jailed for nearly 10 years.

Ulrik Nielson and Andronicos Sideras secretly mixed the cuts with beef and sold on 83,000kg to big companies to use in ready meals and pies across Britain and Europe.Their horsebeef scam was only discovered when a surprise inspection in 2013 found horse ID chips in batches labelled “100 per cent beef”.

Nielson, Sideras and a third man, Alex Beech, were sentenced together at Inner London Crown Court yesterday .

Nielson, who wore a checked blue shirt was jailed for three years and six months and banned from being a company director for ten years.

Flexifoods would buy beef for about three euros per kilogram and horsemeat for two euros per kilogram.

The meat would then be sent to Sideras’s cold-store, Dino’s and Son, in Tottenham, north London, where it would be secretly mixed.

Fake labelling to trick buyers into thinking it was beef was also produced at Sideras’s property while Flexifood found unsuspecting buyers for the dodgy mixes.

They were caught out when Sideras sent a batch of mixed meat to the wrong buyer, which then rejected the delivery before it was sent to a cold store in Northern Ireland.

A surprise inspection of the cold store revealed horse DNA in the batch of meat, along with the horse identification chips.

Shocking photos show female RAF recruit tossed around by naked servicemen in 'initiation ritual'

Shocking images show the abuse suffered by a female RAF recruit during a debased “initiation” routine.

Burly naked servicemen with just rubber gloves on their heads and genitals pick Rebecca Crookshank up and force her into sexual positions.

Then just 21, Rebecca was the only woman among 28 recruits posted for training at RAF Mount Alice in the Falklands .

The sickening photos taken in 2001 have now bravely been made public by Rebecca, who wants to show the suffering that women recruits can go through.
“It was the beginning of a dark time,” Rebecca, now 36, explained to the Mirror.
“That evening the initiation ceremony took place. They were naked and wearing rubber gloves and pressing me against them.
“Another time the guys thought it would be funny to cable tie me to somebody else’s bed.
“I was fully clothed but there was a darkness, a fear. It so easily could have gone into a realm of something unthinkable.”
Rebecca recalls corporals having sex with female trainees. She said: “For a 16 or 17-year-old, it’s scary.”

When she made a formal complaint, an interview was conducted in her bedroom.

She said: “I felt violated, it was inappropriate. I was told that if I kept quiet, I could have a ride on a Tornado F3 plane. I was young, and I accepted it.”
Londoner Rebecca, who now works as an actress and campaigner against sexual harassment, left the RAF shortly after her ordeal on a four-week posting to the islands.

Aluu 4: Victim's father reacts to court judgement as 3,including policeman are sentenced to death

Justice Letam Nyordee of  Rivers State High Court yesterday convicted and sentenced to death an ex-Police Sergeant, Lucky Orji, and two others for the murder of four students (Aluu 4) of University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) at Aluu, a university village in Ikwerre Local Government Area, on October 5, 2012.

Other persons sentenced with Sergeant Orji are David Chinasa Obada and Ikechukwu L. Amadi (a.k.a. Kapoo).

Abiodun Yusuf, Joshua Egbe, Cyril Abam and John Ayuu (a.k.a Jonny Barbar) were discharged and acquitted. The court said the prosecution failed to establish beyond reasonable doubt a case of murder against them.

The father of one of the victms (Lloyd),  Mike Toku Mike,  said:
“I am partially happy that the garment of robbery, criminality has been pulled off from the four young men that were murdered in Aluu. It is crystal clear that the boys were innocent, they did not steal or rob, but only went to the place to demand the money they were owed and they were falsely tagged and killed.
“However, I would have been happier if the seven of them were convicted and sentenced, but the law did not see it like that but only three were sentenced, it is ok.

Ugonna Obuzor (19), Tekena Elkanah(23), Lloyd Toku Mike(22), and Chiadika Biringa(23) were paraded naked and lynched by a pool of water beside a waste dump at Umokiri in Aluu. They were accused of stealing laptop and mobile handset, an allegation the court absolved them of.

''I never avoid my taxes because I don't want trouble'- Cristiano Ronaldo speaks on tax evasion accusations

Real Madrid and Portugal football star, Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to tax  evasion allegations, telling a Spanish judge Monday that he has “never tried to avoid taxes.”

Ronaldo was questioned to determine whether he committed tax fraud worth almost 15 million euros ($17.5 million) and  spent more than 90 minutes answering the questions of investigating judge Monica Gomez.

“I have never hidden anything, and never tried to avoid taxes,” the 32 year-old mega football star said.
“Spain’s Tax Office knows all the details about my sources of income because we have reported them,” Ronaldo told the judge, according to his statement. “I always file my tax returns because I think that we should all file and pay our taxes.
“Those who know me know that I tell my consultants that they must have everything in order and paid up to date because I don’t want trouble.”
In June, a state prosecutor accused Ronaldo of four counts of tax fraud from 2011-14 worth 14.7 million euros ($16.5 million). The prosecutor accused the Portugal forward of having used shell companies outside Spain to hide income made from image rights. The accusation does not involve his salary from Real Madrid.

3SC Will Avoid Relegation - Amoo

Shooting Stars Sports Club coach, Fatai Amoo, has assured the club's fans that their darling team will survive the drop from the Nigeria Professional Football League at the end of the season.

"We're in a critical position now and we have three games at home and three away which we cannot afford to lose," Amoo said.

Cost of managing 2.4m IDPs enormous – Osinbajo

The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday, admitted that the cost of managing the humanitarian crisis caused by insurgency especially as it concerns about 2.4 million Internally Displaced Persons and extensive destruction of infrastructure is “huge and enormous.”

According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, the Acting President spoke while receiving a delegation of the African Union Peace and Security Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Osinbajo said countries in the Lake Chad Basin have been cooperating in dealing with the insurgency in the region and the consequent humanitarian crisis.

He cited the progress of the Multi-National Joint Task Force set up to address the terrorist insurgency as a sign of the cooperation.

Osinbajo noted that unlike in the past when there were difficulties when the militaries of the four countries tried to work together, the MNJTF surmounted the challenges and has succeeded.

The statement read, “However he (Osinbajo) observed that the humanitarian consequences of the insurgency are compounded by deep poverty, making the costs of dealing with the situation huge and enormous.

“He recalled that there are for instance about 2.4m displaced persons, extensive destruction of property, infrastructure, schools, homes and farmland. In some cases, he said, the situation required the rebuilding of whole societies.

“But he expressed satisfaction with the work of the Peace and Security Council of the AU.”

Awujale of Ijebu debunks death rumour

The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has dismissed as untrue rumours of his death, saying he is hale and hearty.

Some blogs had on Monday reported the death of the Ogun State’s 83-year old monarch, who is spending his 57th year on the throne.

But, according to PMNews, The respected monarch debunked the rumours about his death in a telephone conversation.

The Awujale has for the past week been a guest of Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, in Lagos, where he has been staying after a routine medical checkup in a Lagos hospital, two weeks ago.

Awujale expressed surprise that some bloggers could be spreading rumours about his death without confirming from the palace in Ijebu-Ode or from his chiefs.

“Why are people spreading rumours about my death, when I am right here at Oriental,” PMNews quoted the monarch as saying.

He enjoined journalists to check the veracity of their information, before publishing.

Time for talk on North Korea is over – US

The time for talk on North Korea is “over”, the United States said, spurning a UN response to Pyongyang’s latest ICBM launch in favour of bomber flights and missile defence system tests.

Nikki Haley, the US envoy to the United Nations, said there was “no point” in holding a fruitless emergency Security Council session, warning that another weak council resolution would be “worse than nothing” in light of the North’s repeated violations.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un boasted of his country’s ability to strike any target in the US after an intercontinental ballistic missile test Friday which weapons experts said could even bring New York into range — a major challenge to President Donald Trump.

US strategic bombers on Saturday flew over the Korean peninsula in a direct response to the launch, and on Sunday American forces successfully tested a missile interception system which the US hopes will be installed on the Korean peninsula.

Under Kim’s leadership, North Korea has accelerated its drive towards a credible nuclear strike capability, in defiance of international condemnation and multiple sets of UN sanctions. The US Senate passed new bipartisan sanctions on Pyongyang on Friday.

Haley urged China, Japan and South Korea to tighten the screws on Pyongyang.

“An additional Security Council resolution that does not significantly increase the international pressure on North Korea is of no value,” she said in a statement late Sunday.

“It sends the message to the North Korean dictator that the international community is unwilling to seriously challenge him.

“China must decide whether it is finally willing to take this vital step. The time for talk is over.”

Analysts said the comments indicated Washington had run out of patience with the diplomatic approach, and could consider military intervention.

The latest ICBM test “poses a seemingly tangible threat to the national security of the US”, said Jeung Young-Tae, director of military studies at Dongyang University in South Korea.

“Now the US will see no point in negotiation, which only helps Pyongyang earn more time to develop its weapons programmes,” he said.

“Whether we want it or not, the risk of unilateral military action by the US cannot be ruled out at this point.”

– ‘They do NOTHING’ –

Earlier, Trump warned that he would not allow China — the impoverished North’s sole major ally and economic lifeline — to “do nothing” about Pyongyang.

In two tweets Trump linked trade strains with the Asian giant — marked by a trade deficit of $309 billion last year — to policy on North Korea, after South Korea indicated it could speed up the deployment of a US missile defence system that has infuriated China.

“I am very disappointed in China. Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk,” Trump wrote.

“We will no longer allow this to continue. China could easily solve this problem!”

Trump has repeatedly urged China to rein in its recalcitrant neighbour, but Beijing insists dialogue is the only practical way forward and rejects suggestions it has a special responsibility in the situation.

“The DPRK nuclear issue is not due to China, the settlement of the DPRK nuclear issue requires the concerted efforts of all parties and the parties should properly recognise this issue,” China’s foreign ministry said in a statement, using the acronym for North Korea’s official name.

Beijing also rejected Trump’s linkage of trade and the North, with commerce vice-minister Qian Keming telling a briefing Monday the issues “are not related, and should not be discussed together”.

But Shinzo Abe, the prime minister of US treaty ally Japan, also urged Beijing to act — along with Moscow — after telephone talks with Trump on Monday Tokyo time.

The North had “trampled all over” efforts to seek a peaceful solution to the situation and “unilaterally escalated” tensions.

“The international community including China and Russia must take it seriously and step up pressure,” Abe told reporters.

Russia’s foreign ministry, however, said it was “unjustified” for the US and other nations to try to blame Moscow and Beijing for the situation.

Pyongyang lauded the developers of the missile at the weekend, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

The US-led campaign only provided “further justification” for the North’s resolve to maintain its weapons programs, the foreign ministry said in a statement carried by KCNA.

The ICBM test “is meant to send a stern warning to the US making senseless remarks, being lost to reason in the frantic sanctions and pressure campaign against the DPRK,” it said.

Sahara Reporters publisher makes bank account public

The publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has declared on his Facebook page his bank account.

He also went to say that his Nigerian accounts have been frozen via a kangaroo court order obtained from a Jankara judge in Ilorin, Kwara state.

Read full statement by Omoyele Sowore

Folks: Let me just act goofy today by declaring all my private bank accounts publicly just so that so some of you can get some answers you need. It is important to let you know that the Bank Of America (BOFA) bank account summary being bandied around by Bukola Saraki and his minions yesterday was manufactured since last week.

I do not have a personal or investment account at BOFA. However, after hitting them hard yesterday revealing their fraudulent legal judgements in Ilorin, they had to resort to something. These screenshots of my accounts both in the US and Nigeria were taken today.

Please understand that my Nigerian accounts have been frozen via a kangaroo court order obtained from a Jankara judge in Ilorin, Kwara state.

My confirmed cash balance across two (US and Nigeria) continents as of this morning stands at $6,213 minus $6, 100 and debit card balance of $100 frozen in my GTB account. My account balance in Naira is less than N2,000.

My available bank cash today in the US is approximately $13! I also have close to £10 left from funds that I exchanged while in the UK this past weekend. Mind you I am not seeking anyone’s sympathy, there is no need for it.

Trump Sacks Media Chief Barely 10 Days At Job

White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci has been fired after fewer than 10 days in the post. The former Wall Street financier had drawn criticism after calling a reporter to give a profanity-laced tirade against his colleagues.

Mr Trump's chief of staff Reince Priebus and spokesman Sean Spicer both left their posts with his appointment.

The decision was made by Mr Trump's new chief of staff, Gen John Kelly, who was sworn in on Monday.

The president was also unhappy with Mr Scaramucci's performance, the White House confirmed.

Mr Trump's spokeswoman, Sarah Sanders, said the president thought Mr Scaramucci's comments to the reporter "were inappropriate for a person in that position".
He has not been moved to another White House role, she added.

Mr Trump had tweeted in the morning about job and wage figures, and insisted there is "No WH chaos", referring to reports about fighting among White House staff.

Photo: Policemen Allegedly Loot GEJ's Abuja House

An Abuja home of former President Goodluck Jonathan has been burgled. However, in what appears a curious twist, the house was not burgled by known thieves, but by police officers assigned to guard the house, Premium Times reports.

The Nigeria Police have thus arrested three of its officers for stealing items valued at several millions of naira from the Abuja residence of the former president.

The items were alleged to have been stolen by the officers from the residence located at No. 89, Fourth Avenue in the Gwarimpa district of Abuja.

They include sets of furniture, dozens of plasma television sets, refrigerators, air-conditioner units and box-loads of clothes such as designer suits imprinted with the former president’s name, male and female Ijaw traditional attires, lace materials and bowler hats.

Premium Times exclusively gathered that the three mobile police officers conducted a systematic looting over a period of three months beginning from around March 2016, until they totally stripped the house of all movable items, which they sold piecemeal to dealers at the Panteka second-hand materials market in Tipper Garage, Gwarimpa.

Mr. Jonathan’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, confirmed the theft to Premium Times. He also confirmed that the affected officers have been arrested.

According to a security source involved in the investigation, by the time family members of the former president were made aware of the looting early this month, the house had been stripped bare.

On getting wind of the arrest of the policemen, two dealers who had been the main recipients of the stolen items were said to have closed down their shops at Panteka market and have since remained at large.

Mr. Jonathan had lived in the house for about a year when he was vice president. His mother was said to have assumed residence there after Mr. Jonathan moved to the Aso Rock Villa upon becoming Acting President in 2010.

The rumour of the Awujale’s passing started going viral on social media platforms, especially Facebook, this afternoon.

“It’s not true; he is alive and I spoke with him today,” said Mr. Onanuga. “He is in Lagos and he is just laughing over the rumour.”

Mr. Onanuga said the monarch was ill two weeks ago and travelled to Lagos for treatment at a hospital from which he was discharged two days afterwards.

Turkey Detains Over 1,000 In Latest Anti-Terror Raids

Turkish authorities have detained 1,098 people over the last week for suspected links to militant groups or last year's failed coup attempt, the interior ministry said on today.

In a statement, the ministry said 831 of those were detained for suspected ties to the U.S.-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara blames for orchestrating an attempted coup in July. Gulen denies any involvement.

It said another 213 of those were suspected of links to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which has carried out a three-decade insurgency against the government and is considered a terrorist organization by the United States, Turkey and Europe.

Forty-six people were detained over alleged links to Islamic State, while 8 more were held for suspected ties to "leftist terrorist groups", the ministry said.
