Chelsea to begin summer spree with £100m deal for Bakayoko, Sandro this week

Chelsea are set to finally begin their summer spending this week, with a £100million double deal.

The Premier League champions are ready to make Juventus’ Alex Sandro the world’s most expensive defender, as they are on the verge of agreeing a £61m for the Brazil left-back.

Sandro’s fee would eclipse the £50m Paris Saint-Germain paid, to buy his countryman David Luiz from Chelsea three years ago.

Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, is also due in England in the next 48 hours to finalise his £37m move,

After he lands Sandro and Bakayoko, Blues boss Antonio Conte will turn his attention to Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk. Chelsea are planning to test Saints’ resolve with a £60m bid for the 25-year-old, who has emerged as their top defender target.

Kim Sends Father’s Day Message To Two Special Men In Her Life

Kim Kardashian took to social media on Sunday to wish the two special men in her life a Happy Father's Day. First came a post to husband Kanye West, which saw the 36-year-old thank him for being 'such a good dad' to their children North, four, and Saint, one.

Pulling on the heartstrings further, the brunette then penned a touching tribute to her late father Robert Kardashian for the occasion - which saw her gush how 'lucky' she was to have him as a father, even for a short space of time.

First sharing snaps of her rapper husband smiling down sweetly at their son Saint and cuddling their little girl North, she wrote lovingly of her partner: 'Happy Father's Day! Thank you for being such a good dad to our babies!'

Next sharing an old photo with her dad Robert, who died in 2003, she said to fans: 'God I am so lucky you were my dad. I remember right before you passed away I thanked you for everything u taught me & I told u I would raise my kids with everything I learned from you, whenever that time would come.'

Nigeria not in democracy yet – Tinubu

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said Nigeria is not yet a “full-blown” democracy.

The former Governor of Lagos stated this over the weekend, when he received the National Icon of Democracy award at the Tell Awards for Excellence.

The event was held at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island.

Tinubu, who was represented by former Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dele Alake, said: “This civilian dispensation that we have – we don’t call it full blown democracy.
“What we have today is a civilian dispensation. So, our democracy is a work in progress, and we believe by the grace of God that we’ll achieve full blown democracy in our time.
“So, every one of us must work towards full blown democracy in Nigeria. We all know the tenets and principles of full blown democracy. And we hope we shall achieve them in our own time in Nigeria.”

Rohr to meet with NFF following Super Eagles’ defeat to South Africa

The head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, is set to meet with the Technical and Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Tuesday morning.

According to the chairman of the committee, the upcoming 2018 World Cup double-header against Cameroon in August, will be top of the agenda.

The meeting comes few days, after Nigeria got their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series off to the worst possible start, with a 2-0 home defeat to South Africa in Uyo.

It leaves the Eagles third in Group E, following Libya’s 5-1 defeat of Seychelles on Friday.

“It was not the result we worked or prayed for, but the truth is we have only lost one of six matches in the series, and this wake-up call has come at the right time,” Green said in an NFF release on Sunday night.

“It has also come when we still have the opportunity to rectify things and prepare harder for the remaining matches of the FIFA World Cup qualifying race.

“Losing to South Africa was never in our calculation, but it has happened. Someone once said that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Now, everyone, including the technical crew and the players, know that we must work harder than we ever done, dig deeper than we have ever done and show the kind of commitment greater than we have ever shown in the two qualifying campaigns.

“There are so many things to take forward from this game. One of them is that this type of reverse must never happen to the Super Eagles again,” he added.

“But now, we have to focus squarely on the FIFA World Cup qualifiers because the race to the Cup of Nations will only resume in nine months’ time. In two-and-half months, we have classical World Cup battles with Cameroon. That is the only issue on our minds at the moment.”

Pictured! Abule Egba Disc Jockey Dies After Spending Birthday Night With Girlfriend

A Disc Jockey has been found dead after spending the night with his girlfriend. It was gathered that the deceased, identified as Michael Adegbehin, a 2012 graduate of engineering from a South-West university, celebrated his 27th birthday last Thursday.

An eyewitness said the deceased, a Disc Jockey, shared same apartment with his elder brother on Agbe Road, Abule-Egba axis of Lagos State.

A resident of the community, who did not want his name mentioned, disclosed that the deceased had invited his girlfriend, who was identified as Blessing, to his apartment as part of the celebration.

Sources said that on her arrival, Michael sent an SMS to his elder brother, urging him to spend the night elsewhere because Blessing would be sleeping over.

Another resident, who also does not want to be mentioned, told Vanguard that in the morning, Blessing left the apartment, adding “I did not see Michael accompanying her. But because she was not new to us, we did not suspect any danger.” He noted that some minutes later, the elder brother arrived and met the door wide opened, with his brother lying lifeless in the room. The resident noted that the alarm raised by Michael’s elder brother alerted other tenants. He added that efforts to rescue Michael, whose stage name was Swaggernointed Djhobeejay, proved abortive.

It was learned that he was pronounced dead by medical experts and his body deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja.

It was gathered that Blessing, who allegedly went into hiding after the disaster, had since presented herself to the Police.
